FD30 Composite Fire Doors: Certified, Secure and Fitted by Our Own Team

A fire door has one job: to hold back fire and smoke long enough to get people out. Ours are certified to FD30, a minimum of 30 minutes’ fire resistance, and unlike the plain fire doors most people picture, they look like a proper composite front door.

Built like a front door, certified like a fire door

We supply and fit FD30 composite fire doors for flats, tenement closes, HMOs, new builds and homes with integral garages across Glasgow, Stirling and Scotland. Looking for fire doors in Glasgow? Visit our Kinning Park showroom to see the colours and hardware before you choose.

They are internal door sets: flat entrance doors onto a shared stair, landing or corridor, doors from an integral garage into the house, and internal doors that need FD30 protection. Built with the same solid core and finish as a composite front door, so a flat entrance door onto a close looks like a proper front door rather than a plain fire door.

  • 48mm solid timber core, the same thickness and construction as a premium composite front door
  • Certified FD30, independently fire tested, with intumescent seals that expand in heat to seal the gaps
  • Multi-point locking and high-security cylinders
  • A choice of styles, solid and glazed designs with fire-rated glass, in a range of colours
  • Low maintenance: no repainting, no swelling, no warping

Fitted as a complete door set

A fire door only performs as tested if the whole set is right, so we fit it as a complete door set: frame, seals, hardware and closer. If you’re a landlord or factor working through a block, we can survey every door, tell you which need replacing, and quote for the lot.

Colours and options

  • Standard and premium colour ranges, with woodgrain and smooth finishes
  • Fire-rated glazing options for light into a hallway
  • Matching frames, with fanlight and sidelight options where the certification allows
  • Any RAL colour on request

What does a composite fire door cost?

Composite fire doors start from £1,950, fully fitted, including VAT. They cost more than a standard composite door because of the core, the seals and the certified hardware, and more than a basic fire door because you’re getting a door that looks the part. We give a fixed, itemised price after a free survey, with volume pricing for landlords and factors replacing several doors.

FAQs

Your questions answered

What does FD30 mean?

FD30 means the door set has been tested to resist fire for at least 30 minutes. FD30s adds cold-smoke seals, which stop smoke passing around the door in the early stages of a fire.

Do I need a fire door on my flat?

If your front door opens onto a shared close, stair or corridor, almost certainly yes. We will confirm for your property at survey.

Can a fire door look like a normal front door?

Yes, that is the point of a composite fire door: colours, glazing and hardware, with the certification built in.

Can it be used as an external door?

No. Our composite fire doors are certified as internal door sets, for flat entrance doors onto a shared stair or corridor, garage-to-house doors and internal fire doors. For a front door that faces the weather, see our composite doors.

Does it need a self-closer?

Yes, a fire door must close itself, so the closer is part of the door set.

Do you fit fire doors outside Glasgow and Stirling?

Yes, across Scotland including Falkirk, Lanarkshire, Dunbartonshire, Renfrewshire and Perthshire.
