Colours, glass and hardware
- Colours: white, anthracite, black, agate grey, cream, Chartwell green and woodgrain foils; different colours inside and out; 27 combinations ex-stock
- Glazing: A-rated double glazing as standard, triple glazing, acoustic glazing, obscure glass, toughened safety glass as standard on doors, integrated blinds in double glazed units
- Hardware: lever handles and matching hinges from ERA and Fab&Fix in chrome, black, gold and graphite, the same as your window handles
- Locks: multi-point locking as standard; Ultion cylinder upgrade available
- Thresholds: standard and low
- Cill options: 85mm stub, 150mm standard or 225mm large, welded for one continuous line
- Trickle vents: optional, recommended
French doors, bifolds or sliders?
French doors for the most affordable full-width opening, up to around 2m wide, and the traditional look. Bifolds for openings wider than 2m where you want the whole wall to open. Sliders for the biggest single pane of glass, and where you don’t want doors swinging into the room or the garden.

Your questions answered
How wide can uPVC French doors go?
Around 2m for a pair. Wider openings are usually better served by bifolds or sliders, or by adding sidelights either side of the French doors.
Can French doors open outwards?
Yes. Outward-opening is the most common choice, keeping the doors out of the room. Inward-opening is available for balconies and narrow patios.
Are French doors secure?
Yes. Multi-point locking on the master leaf, shootbolts on the slave leaf, internally glazed, PAS 24 tested. Add an Ultion cylinder for anti-snap protection.
Will they match my windows?
Exactly. They’re made from the same VEKA profile as our windows, in the same colour, with the same handles.
Why do the doors get condensation, and will new ones stop it?
Condensation forms when warm, moist indoor air meets a cold surface. New A-rated doors are much warmer on the inside so it drops dramatically, but because they’re also far more airtight, moisture that used to leak out now stays in the house. Ventilation fixes it: trickle vents, extractor fans and airing the room. Condensation on the outside of new glass on a cold morning is a good sign; between the panes means a failed unit, which is covered by guarantee.
How long does fitting take?
Usually half a day. Our own installers fit every door.
