Ultion Locks & Door Security: The Cylinder We Fit as Standard
Every multi-point door needs a euro cylinder, and the cylinder, not the door slab, is what a break-in attempt actually targets. Modern composite, uPVC and aluminium doors are built to resist force. The cylinder is different: a small mechanical target that budget versions can snap in seconds.
That’s why we fit Ultion as standard on every composite door, and offer it as an upgrade on uPVC and aluminium doors.
The lock that locks down
Made in Sheffield by Brisant Secure. TS007 3-star rated, Sold Secure Diamond, Secured by Design.
Lockdown mode
If someone attacks the cylinder by snapping, drilling or picking, Ultion doesn’t just resist and eventually fail. Its internal mechanism seizes solid, locking the whole cylinder down and stopping any further attempt at that door.
Molybdenum core
Serious resistance to drilling, on top of anti-snap, anti-pick and anti-bump construction.
A stronger key
Brisant makes the Ultion key considerably thicker than the market standard, so the key itself isn’t the weak point.
Ultion KeyTag
An optional key fob that lets you find your keys with Apple Find My.
How multi-point locking works
The cylinder is one part of a bigger mechanism. Every external door we fit runs ERA multi-point locking, the style of lock UK insurers expect rather than a single latch and deadbolt.
- Lift the handle. Rollers and hook bolts drive out from the edge of the door into keeps in the frame, at several points up and down the door.
- Turn the key. The cylinder drives the deadbolt and shootbolts home, locking every engaged point solid.
A typical system has five locking points: a central latch, a deadbolt, two hook bolts and two shootbolts, engaging top, middle and bottom. Handles, letterplates and escutcheons are Fab&Fix, ERA’s premium range, so everything matches. See colours and hardware.
Tested, not assumed
PAS 24. An independent test of the whole door assembly, frame, glazing, hardware and locking, against forced entry with screwdrivers, crowbars and impact testing. It’s a pass/fail certification of the complete doorset, not a single component.
Secured by Design. The UK police-backed accreditation. PAS 24 is a prerequisite for SBD, not an alternative to it.
Scottish Building Standards. Section 4.13 of the Technical Handbook (Domestic) sets out security requirements for external doors to dwellings, common areas and doors between a dwelling and an integral garage. They can be met via Secured by Design, product certification such as PAS 24, or component standards for locks, hinges and glazing.
Communal entrances. For flats with door-entry systems, the standard also requires the door to be self-closing, self-locking and to allow keyless exit from inside.
Fire. Doors onto a shared stair also need FD30 certification.
Window security
Every window we fit has multi-point locking and key-locking handles as standard, and is internally glazed so the glass can’t be removed from outside. Laminated glass adds a further deterrent where a window is vulnerable; see glass and glazing.
