A tilt and turn window does two things. Turn the handle one way and the top tilts inward a few centimetres: fresh air, rain kept out, and nobody getting through the gap. Turn it the other way and the whole sash swings open into the room like a door, for full ventilation, a clear fire escape, and outside glass you can clean from where you’re standing.
That makes them the sensible choice for flats, upper floors, tenements, and any window you’d otherwise need a ladder to clean. We fit VEKA tilt and turn windows across Glasgow, Stirling and Scotland, installed by our own team.

Clean from inside
The sash opens fully inward, so the outside glass is reached from the room. No ladders, no window cleaner, a real advantage on the third floor of a tenement.
Fire escape
Fully opened, the sash gives a large, clear escape opening, often required by building standards for bedrooms above the ground floor.
Big glass
Tilt and turn frames carry large single panes, so they suit wide modern openings where a casement would need a mullion.
Warm and quiet
Multi-chambered VEKA frames, A-rated double or triple glazing, and a full compression seal all round when closed.
Secure ventilation
In tilt mode the window is locked open only a few centimetres, so you can leave it overnight or while you’re out. Multi-point locking runs all round the sash.

Cill options
The cill is the shelf the window sits on outside, and it changes the look of the whole elevation more than most people expect. We offer three.
Stub cill
The slimmest option. Used where the original stone or concrete cill is staying and the window simply sits on top of it, or where you want the frame to look as minimal as possible.
Standard cill
The everyday choice for most Scottish homes. Enough projection to throw rain clear of the wall, with a clean, proportionate look.
Large cill
A deep cill for a stronger, more traditional line. Suits older properties, deep reveals and anywhere the window needs to stand out from the wall.
Drawn to scale: the dashed outlines show the other two sizes. On bays and runs of windows we weld the cill for one continuous line with no joins.
Glazing options
A-rated double glazing comes as standard. Add any of these to suit the room, the road outside or building regulations.

Which way does a tilt and turn window open?
Inward. The top tilts into the room for ventilation, and the whole sash swings inward for full opening and cleaning.
Do tilt and turn windows count as a fire escape?
When fully opened they give a large clear opening, which is why they’re often specified for bedrooms above ground floor. We’ll confirm the required opening size for your property.
Are they secure?
Yes. Multi-point locking runs all round the sash, and in tilt mode the window is held open only a few centimetres.
Can I have tilt and turn on some windows and casements on others?
Yes. The VEKA profiles match, so a tilt and turn on the top floor and casements downstairs look identical from outside.
Can you reduce traffic noise?
Yes. Standard double glazing typically cuts outside noise by 30–35 dB. Acoustic glazing typically achieves 40–45 dB, and because every 10 dB is roughly a halving of perceived noise, that’s the difference between hearing every passing car and barely noticing the road. If noise is your main concern, we’d suggest leaving trickle vents off those windows.
Why do windows get condensation, and will new windows stop it?
Condensation forms when warm, moist indoor air meets a cold surface. New A-rated windows are much warmer on the inside so it drops dramatically, but because they’re also far more airtight, moisture that used to leak out now stays in the house. Ventilation fixes it: trickle vents, extractor fans and airing rooms briefly each day. Condensation on the outside of new glass on a cold morning is a good sign; between the panes means a failed sealed unit, which is covered by guarantee.
